Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that I extend to you my deepest gratitude and appreciation for your participation and utmost support at this year’s Majuro Day celebration.
Since the launching of all Sports Activities on January 15th, I have witnessed that many are enjoying the competition in various types of sports. The Office of the Mayor has been informed by the Majuro Day Steering committee that there will be three (3) visiting teams from our neighbouring islands (outside of Majuro) to compete and, most especially join us here in the City recognize and celebrate this year’s commemoration, February 15th 2014. Official and formal opening and closing is on the 14th & 15th of February.
Recently, with the great support of our friends for development projects from R.O.C Taiwan and U.S governments, we were able to utilize the funding to construct sport facilities at different locations in each community that is currently accommodating the Majuro Day sports events.
We have assurance from Taiwanese that more funding for development projects will be available for this year and I take this wonderful opportunity on behalf of the Leadership of Majuro Atoll Local Government, our Traditional Leaders, and the Delegation to the Niijela, the Executive and Council-members and the people of Majuro to thank Taiwan and the U.S for their strong support for these activities.
As we have achieved some of our goals, it is our next step forward and upward to continue what will benefit the people of Majuro today and for the future.
Good luck to all.
Hon. Mudge Samuel
Mayor, Majuro Atoll Local Government
